Tips for Stopping Bad Breath While at WorkHave you ever found yourself about to give a work presentation or attend an important meeting, only to realize that your breath smells strongly of your morning coffee or the lunch you just ate? While having bad breath is probably not going to cost you your job, it can certainly be embarrassing and leave a negative impression on your professional colleagues. Here are some tips for freshening your breath at work.

Brush Your Teeth


It may feel unusual to brush your teeth at the office, but this is a great way to quickly freshen your breath before an important meeting, presentation, or interview. Plus, brushing will also remove any unsightly food particles that may have gotten stuck in your teeth during lunch. All you have to do is keep a travel-sized toothbrush and tube of toothpaste at your desk – just make sure to let the brush dry completely before covering it or stowing it away.

Pop Some Gum or a Mint


Chewing sugar-free gum or popping a sugar-free mint is another incredibly easy way to eliminate bad breath at work. Keep a pack or two at your desk for easy access whenever unpleasant breath strikes. As an added bonus, chewing gum or sucking on mints stimulates saliva production, which is also important for preventing bad breath. Be sure to only choose sugar-free products, and avoid chewing gum excessively, as this can actually harm your jaw and contribute to issues like TMJ.

Freshening your breath at work does not get any easier than drinking water. Drinking plenty of water throughout the work day keeps your mouth moist and healthy, washes away food debris and plaque, and kills bacteria that can lead to unpleasant breath.
